Question to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities:

To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, what assessment he has made of the potential benefits of exempting NHS premises from business rates; and if he will make a statement.

The Government has no plans to exempt NHS premises from business rates. Hospitals, like almost all other buildings occupied by public bodies, have been subject to non-domestic rates since they were introduced.
