During my visit to Juba I met President Kiir, senior officials from the South Sudanese Government and civil society representatives, directly raising our concerns whilst also reiterating our support to the South Sudanese people. The majority of the South Sudanese opposition leaders are currently outside of the country; we maintain regular engagement with them through the UK Special Representative for Sudan and South Sudan.
