High Speed 2 Railway Line: North of England

Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether it is Government policy that the High Speed 2 and Northern Powerhouse rail projects are not developed in isolation; and whether he plans to integrate those two schemes.

High Speed Two is being developed in a way that supports the Northern Powerhouse to develop better connectivity between northern cities. The Command Paper High Speed Two: From Crewe to Manchester, the West Midlands to Leeds and beyond published in November 2016 sets this out in some detail.
