The Fair Funding Review will conduct a thorough review of what the relative needs assessment formula for local councils should be in a world in which local government spending is funded by local resources not central grant.

To help shape the Fair Funding Review, the Government has been engaging with representatives from across local government through a technical working group which is co-chaired with the Local Government Association. The Government has also published a public Call for Evidence on the key issues the Review will cover which received 209 responses.

There will be further public consultation shortly.
