Question to the Home Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, with reference to the oral contribution of the Prime Minister of 24 July 2019, Official Report, column 1292, how many of those additional police officers will be recruited to (a) the Metropolitan Police and (b) work in Southwark.
The Metropolitan Police will be able to recruit 1,369 additional officers by the end of March 2019 as part of the first wave of 6,000 additional police officers to be recruited nationally. Decisions around the deployment of new officers at a local level are the responsibility of the Mayor’s Office for Police and Crime.
