DFID is contributing £112 million to the Health Pooled Fund in South Sudan which has a specific focus on ante-natal and post-natal care for women. Last year the fund provided over 100,000 ante-natal consultations and ensured that 35,000 women gave birth in a facility accompanied by a skilled birth attendant. The UK’s humanitarian programme also provides access to clean drinking water for women and separate latrines for men and women to increase women’s access.
