The Secretary of State has made a determination, under Part II paragraph 5(4)(a) to Schedule 22 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, to transfer the school site to Lancashire County Council. In a letter to the council, dated 14 November 2016, notifying them of that determination, the Department set out that no financial assistance would be available and none has been provided.

Any decision regarding the future use or disposal of the school site is a matter for Lancashire County Council, however as former school land, protections remain in place for a number of years preventing disposal of the site without the consent of the Secretary of State.
