In 2016 the UK is the second largest provider of humanitarian assistance to North-East Nigeria where the Boko Haram conflict has left 7 million people in urgent need. We have taken a leading role in urging the Government of Nigeria, other donors and the UN to increase the scale and quality of their response to meet the needs of the most vulnerable. In September 2016, when the UK announced a further £80 million of humanitarian funding, we called on other donors to step up, and on the UN to scale up their operations. We continue to raise awareness about the crisis globally and press our international counterparts to do more.
