The UK is committed to working with countries across the world to unlock their renewable energy potential and support their transition away from fossil fuels to cleaner alternatives. The UK's support for the Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) project will help with Mozambique's transition away from dirtier forms of fuel, such as coal. The Government of Mozambique considers revenues from the LNG project as an important source of investment to support their energy transition, in line with its National Determined Contribution and its Paris Agreement commitments. The UK is playing an important role in supporting the development of Mozambique's renewables potential, including through the UK's £22 million BRILHO-Energy Africa programme which supports private sector investment in off-grid renewables.
