Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what steps the Government is taking to promote the rule of law in Mali.

Our Embassy in Bamako is working closely with international partners to support implementation of the Mali Peace Accord and to combat the violent extremism which is causing civil conflict in several regions. Our participation in the EU’s civilian and military training missions are building the capacity of Mali’s security forces. Our bilateral programmes are also strengthening the Malian authorities’ capacity and capability to respond to threats to national and regional security and stability.
