The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) will not have any specific powers to block bus franchising schemes. More widely, the CMA has powers to conduct market studies and investigations in markets where there may be competition and consumer problems and investigate where there may be breaches of UK or EU prohibitions against anti-competitive agreements and abuses of dominant positions.
