The most recent estimate of the benefit-cost ratio for Great Western Electrification, dating from February 2015, was 2.36.

The benefit-cost ratio reflects the costs and benefits of electrifying the Great Western network and introducing new electric and bi-mode IEP trains on long distance services and electric multiple units on suburban services.
