The Life Assurance Scheme has now been launched, and the published legal rules outline revised eligibility criteria for employees in the social care sector. All employees in adult social care providers registered with CQC will now be eligible for the payment, regardless of their funding status. This means the group of staff referred to in the question will be eligible for the scheme if they meet other criteria.

A minority of adult social care providers receive no public funding, and we estimate that fewer than ten per cent of workers are employed by providers in this category.
