There have been no previous reports of damage to the propeller shafts on the Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers since 2015, prior to the defect that HMS PRINCE OF WALES experienced upon sailing on 27 August.

A thorough technical investigation has commenced to allow us to understand the causes of the fault on HMS PRINCE OF WALES and prevent reoccurrence.
