Question to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities:
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what assessment his Department has made of the potential effect of reducing the time limit for bringing a judicial review in planning cases to six weeks, as implemented by the Government on 1 July 2013.
Reducing the time limit for bringing a judicial review claim from 3 months to 6 weeks provides developers with more certainty to start construction of a project sooner after planning permission has been granted. We are not aware of any evidence to suggest that this measure has prejudiced access to justice for genuine claimants.
