Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what steps she plans to take to ensure that monitoring data collected on the third year of the badger culls in Gloucestershire and Somerset is made available for independent scientific analysis; and what assessment she plans to make of that analysis as part of her decision on whether the culls should be extended to other areas.

The Government plans to publish monitoring data for the third year of culling in Gloucestershire and Somerset, in line with the position for the first and second years. The Government is committed to our strategy to make England free of bovine TB, of which culling badgers in areas where the disease is rife is a key element.
