It has always been our policy to notify claimants of the mandatory reconsideration process when making decisions – including where individuals are found fit for work. For ESA a Decision Assurance Call was introduced into the process to collect any additional evidence from claimants and signpost to other benefits where it is likely a fit for work decision will be made. When claimants have been found fit for work the Department provides a decision letter which includes details of the mandatory reconsideration and appeals process.
