I work closely with my Right Hon. Friend the Secretary of State and we have regular discussions on a variety of issues, including the reform of Electronic Communications Code.

The DCMS has received a number of stakeholder representations on this issue and will shortly be commencing a consultation exercise on the reform of the Electronic Communications Code. We will provide a Government response to this in due course, in line with normal Government practice.

My Right Hon. Friend the Secretary of State has engaged with the Prime Minister and Cabinet colleagues throughout the process of considering reforming the Electronic Communications Code. All legislation is subject to standard Cabinet committee clearances.

In the period 19 December to 2 January 6.6 full time equivalent DCMS staff were working on reform of the Electronic Communications Code though the Office of Parliamentary Counsel drafted the actual clauses. No overtime was paid and their work will be taken forward as part of the forthcoming consultation.
