The Government takes the welfare and safety of our detainees very seriously. We do not tolerate any kind of criminal activity in our immigration removal centres, and any allegation of crime is immediately reported to the police for investigation.

Reported incidents which are considered crimes are recorded by the police. Over the last 12 months, the only time period for which figures are currently available, supplier management information indicates that 51 incidents which were considered crimes were reported to Police Scotland. Of these 25 were related to fights or alleged assaults, 11 were drug finds, 11 were threats and 4 other incidents including attempted fire starting and attempted escape. This is provisional management information that is subject to change.
