The UK issues Certificates of Competency and Proficiency to UK seafarers against the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), 1978. As these qualifications are not sector specific to (a) supply or (b) accommodation vessels, and the vessels operating within this region are registered to Administrations based around the world, it is not possible to provide an estimate of UK seafarers operating on these types of vessel in the North Sea.
