Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what estimate his Department has made in (a) nominal and (b) current prices of Inter City Railways Ltd's annual premium payments from 2015-16 to 2023-24.

The total premium payable to government by Inter City Railways Limited over the 8 year term of the new InterCity East Coast franchise is (a) £3.3bn in nominal terms; and (b) £2.35bn in Net Present Value (Premium payments in real terms discounted at 3.5%).
