Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what estimate he has made of the number of NHS and foundation trusts expected to be in deficit at the end of the 2018-19 financial year; and whether the NHS trust sector as a whole is expected to be in deficit at the end of the 2018-19 financial year.

The latest published information, as at Quarter 2 2018-19, forecasted that 111 National Health Service providers would end the year in deficit; with the provider sector overall forecasting a year-end deficit of £558 million.
