Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what assistance he is providing to UK nationals in (a) Syria and (b) Iraq to ensure their safety against kidnapping.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office Travel Advice advises against all travel to Syria and those areas in Iraq where it is assessed that the risk of kidnap is high. We continually monitor these assessments to ensure that our advice provides the most up to date information for British nationals.
