Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether he has held recent discussions with insurers on minimising increases in the cost of premiums for motorists.

The setting of premiums is a commercial decision for individual insurers based on their underwriting experience and the Government does not intervene or seek to control the market. The UK motor insurance market is very competitive, and we recommend that consumers shop around in order to get the best deal.
