As was committed to in the Next Steps on the Five Year Forward View, NHS England introduced 10 new multi-disciplinary Rapid Diagnostic and Assessment Centres across England by March 2018. The centres are continuing to test an innovative approach to diagnosing cancer earlier and faster, when the patient presents with vague or non-specific symptoms. A further 10 sites across the country are also testing service models to diagnose patients with serious but non-specific symptoms, led by Cancer Alliances and funded through the £200 million investment in cancer transformation.

In October 2018, the Prime Minister announced the roll-out of Rapid Diagnostic Centres across the country, which will build on the work done to date.
