The Department has worked with NHS Improvement and NHS England to put in place a new contract for National Health Service trusts so that clinical waste is removed from sites and disposed of safely.

It is the responsibility of the Environment Agency to oversee clearance of the sites with the company. The Department is working closely with the Environment Agency and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on the plans for site clearance.
