Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, if his Department will take steps to improve its communication with local authorities, community organisations and the Third Sector on decisions relating to the location of asylum accommodation; and what progress his Department is making in recognising each of those groups as key stakeholders in such decisions.

The COMPASS contracts place an obligation on accommodation Providers to consult Local Authorities on the procurement of any new properties to be used for the purposes of asylum accommodation.

The Home Office fund Regional Strategic Migration Partnerships. These partnerships bring together the national, regional and local public sector to coordinate activity to deal with effects of the immigration system on local economies and communities.
