To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what representations he has received from the East of England Ambulance Service on the potential use of military personnel to cover staff shortages in winter 2018-19.

During this year’s Risk Summit process, the East of England Ambulance Service was asked to ensure that it clarified timelines and capabilities of the Military Assistance to Civil Authorities protocol. Such readiness protocols are produced by trusts as part of contingency planning for response to extreme circumstances.
