Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what steps (a) he and (b) HS2 Ltd is taking to ensure that measurements are taken of the air particulate matter and emissions footprint of HS2 Ltd’s contractors along the route of the Phase One part of that project.

HS2 air quality requirements form part of the HS2 project’s overall Environmental Minimum Requirements. HS2 Ltd monitor and assure their contractors’ performance with respect to air quality impacts, and provide monthly compliance dashboards to relevant local authorities. High level management information, including any breaches, is also supplied to the Department on a monthly basis.
