Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, with reference to page 23 of the Carers Action Plan 2018 - 2020, published by his Department in June 2018, when he plans to publish further details of the project announced at number 3.4 to increase the timely identification of particularly hidden young carers in Black, Asian and minority ethnic families.
The Department of Health and Social Care and the Department for Education are working together to review best practice in the identification of young carers and their access to support. We will shortly be launching the tendering process to recruit an organisation to conduct the review, and the criteria will be determined as part of that process. We have committed to completing the review by Easter 2019.
The review will include a specific focus on young carers from seldom heard groups and the information obtained from this work will be used to inform a further project, which is planned for 2019-20.
