Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment he has made of the adequacy of the availability of NHS treatment for binge eating disorder.

No such assessment has been made.

For children and young people, there is a programme in place to promote early access to effective, National Institute for Health and Care Excellence-approved treatments for all eating disorders, including binge eating disorder, working in partnership with children, young people and their families. For adults, the Adult Eating Disorders: Community, Inpatient and Intensive Day Patient Care guidance published by NHS England and NHS Improvement in August 2019, emphasises that eating disorder services should provide evidence-based treatment, care and support for a range of eating disorder diagnoses, including binge eating disorder.
