In March 2014 the Government rolled out the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS) and Domestic Violence Protection Orders across England and Wales.
The DVDS enables the police to disclose to the public information about previous violent offending by a new or existing partner where this may help protect them from further violent offending. The latest figures show 3,410 disclosures have been made under DVDS.
Our recent domestic abuse consultation sought views on what more can be done to provide support to victims and tackle repeat perpetrators. The responses are currently being analysed and we intend to publish a Government response as well as a draft Bill later this session.
