Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what recent assessment he has made of the effect of changes to the Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s (MCA) national network of marine offices on the MCA’s capacity to enforce international maritime regulations.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) remains committed to enforcing international maritime regulations.
Rationalising the Marine Office network sits alongside the introduction of remote working so that Marine Surveyors can be located closer to where the MCA’s services are most required. This work is not yet complete. Once completed, the effectiveness of the changes will be reviewed.
