The Government’s Heat and Buildings Strategy sets out a comprehensive package of measures to retrofit homes across the country. Alongside this we announced more than £3.9 billion of new funding for decarbonising heat and buildings, bringing the total commitment in this Parliament to £6.6bn.

Support is especially targeted at lower-income households through schemes such as the Home Upgrade Grant, Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund and Local Authority Delivery Scheme. In addition to this, the Government has committed to extending the Energy Company Obligation from 2022 to 2026, boosting its value from £640 million to £1 billion a year. This will help an extra 305,000 families with green measures such as insulation.

Improved energy efficiency in homes will directly benefit people in fuel poverty, helping them to reduce their bills and live in a warm and comfortable environment.
