In 2017/18, the Department reallocated £10m from Immigration Enforcement’s criminal investigations budget to the enforced removals budget.

This was undertaken as part of a broader rebalancing of the Department’s strategic approach to immigration crime, where a greater focus was placed on disrupting and dismantling the most serious and complex organised criminal groups that are involved in exploiting the vulnerable through human trafficking and modern slavery.
