A complete set of data is not available to accurately reflect the number of people diagnosed with glaucoma. The recording of a primary diagnosis is not mandatory within the hospital episode statistics outpatient commissioning data set and does not, therefore, provide a reliable estimate of those who have been diagnosed with glaucoma.
