Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what steps the international community is taking to bring about further pressure on the Assad regime to allow humanitarian aid to reach civilians in areas either under his Government's control or which are theatres of ongoing conflict.

We are doing our utmost to push for improved humanitarian access in Syria, including through our position in the UN Security Council, and the International Syria Support Group. UN Security Council Resolution 2401, adopted in February 2018, was the latest to underline the obligation on all parties, particularly the Syrian regime, to allow unimpeded humanitarian access. The UK is the second largest bilateral donor to the humanitarian response inside Syria since 2011, and we target aid inside Syria on areas where needs are greatest.
