Motor Vehicles: Fossil Fuels

Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what steps the Government is taking to ensure that plans to phase out of fossil fuel powered vehicles does not increase greenhouse gas emissions associated with the (a) manufacture and (b) distribution of new vehicles; and will he make a statement.

Government’s Clean Growth Strategy, published in October 2017, sets out our proposals for decarbonising all sectors of the UK economy (including transport) to 2030. It explains how the whole country can benefit from the transition to a low carbon economy, while meeting national and international commitments to tackle climate change.
