NHS England is responsible for commissioning bowel screening services to meet programme standards including coverage. They are committed to improving coverage and reducing mortality from bowel cancer.

The steps taken to increase the uptake of bowel screening include reminders, ensuring that men and women are invited every two years, tailoring information for men and women with learning difficulties and using general practice endorsement of invitation letters in accordance with evidence of effectiveness.
