Public Libraries: Northamptonshire

Question to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, what recent assessment he has made of whether Northamptonshire County Council is meeting its statutory requirements under the Public Libraries and Museums Act 1964 to provide a comprehensive and efficient library service.

The Department has received a number of representations following Northamptonshire County Council’s decision to revise its library service provision. We are carefully considering the representations to determine whether they will be treated as a formal complaint under the 1964 Act. If so, the Department will begin the process of investigating the complaint.
