The Government remains committed to maximising the value we get from our resources, and is assessing how we handle our waste in the UK in the longer term. In particular, we must reduce the amount of waste we produce overall and the amount we export to be dealt with elsewhere. Later this year we will publish our Resources and Waste Strategy which will explain in detail how we will recycle as much as possible, whether domestically or abroad, and return high quality materials back to the economy.
