Question to the Department for International Trade:
To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, with reference to the oral contribution of the Minister for Trade Policy of 30 January 2018, Official Report, column 261, for what reasons HMRC needs a power to request information.
This question was answered on 5th February 2018
The collection of information to assist the Government to confirm the number and identity of UK exporters is a new function and therefore must be defined in legislation. Clause 7, subsection 1, creates this new function.
