The Government’s Mandate to NHS England and NHS Improvement for 2021/22 sets an objective to maintain and improve information sharing. The Mandate sets out that NHS England and NHS Improvement will continue to work with the Government and National Health Service partners to improve data collection processes and embed a culture of transparency and openness, reducing barriers to information sharing.

The Mandate sets out that the NHS will tackle health inequalities including through measuring year-on-year reductions in the stillbirth and neonatal mortality rate per 1,000 births among those with a minority ethnic background and the national average for all births.
