Question to the Department for Education:
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, whether it is his policy that schools for students with high levels of special education needs should employ an onsite nurse.
As the department’s guidance ‘supporting pupils at school with medical conditions’ sets out, clinical support for children in schools who have long-term conditions and disabilities remain a Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) commissioning responsibility. CCGs should ensure their commissioning arrangements are adequate to provide the ongoing support essential to the safety of these vulnerable children whilst in school.
