Question to the Department for International Trade:
To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, what recent discussion she has had with the Government of Somaliland on a trade agreement with the UK.
Somalia will benefit from the United Kingdom’s Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP), which was announced on 10th November. The Least Developed Countries Framework will give duty-free quota-free access to all 47 countries classified by the UN as Least Developed Countries, which includes Somalia. Furthermore, the United Kingdom-funded Trade and Investment Advocacy Fund 2 Plus Programme (TAF2+) is in discussions with Somalia about providing advisory support towards their WTO accession.
