Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, if she will make the non-emergency police phone number 101 a free-to-use service.

There is no obligation on telecom service providers to supply the 101 service free of charge as is the case with 999 under the 2003 Communications Act.

Calls to 101 cost 15p from mobile devices and landlines, regardless of duration. They are free from payphones.
