Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what guidance his Department issues on recommended clinician staffing levels for stroke units.

The recommended staffing levels in the National Guidelines for Stroke (5th edition) in 2016 are as follows:

Physio-therapist

Occupational
therapist

Speech and language therapist

Clinical neuro-psychologist/clinical psychologist

Dietitian

Nurse

Consultant stroke physician

(Whole-time equivalent per five beds)
