Our ability to conduct regular and accurate risk assessments is severely impeded by the fact that HMG has no presence in Afghanistan at this time. The analysis of the information we are able to gather is challenged by the fluid security and political situation on the ground in Afghanistan.

The FCDO has also been assisting British Nationals to leave Afghanistan when safe options are available such as Qatar sponsored charter flights. We gather information from a range of sources before each evacuation flight with British Nationals on board to try to identify any specific risks, and these are assessed before deciding whether to offer seats to individuals.
