Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what assessment his Department has made of the patient benefits of MRI-guided focused ultrasound thalamotomy for treatment-resistant essential tremor.

The National Institute for Heath and Care Excellence (NICE) is developing interventional procedure guidance on MRI-guided focused ultrasound thalamotomy for treatment-resistant essential tremor and the anticipated publication date is 21 February 2018. NICE’s interventional procedures guidance looks at whether procedures are safe enough and work well enough for wider use in the National Health Service.
