The UK plays an active role in upholding labour and environmental standards across the world, both through our role as a member of the International Labour Organisation and by actively promoting human rights and the UK wants to ensure economic growth, development and environmental protection go hand in hand.

The Department for International Trade has received representations from five organisations on the inclusion of social and environmental criteria, in the remit of the Trade Remedies Authority. This was in response to the White Paper “Preparing for a future UK trade policy” as well as part of the Department’s ongoing stakeholder engagement, on a future UK trade remedies regime.
